My second time getting sunglasses.
First time was when I was 19.
Dan Aykroyd of The Blues Brothers knocked me out!

I used to boost middle range when setting the guitar amp.
But now, I turn up treble instead of middle and bass.
So I looked for Johnny Winter's album and listened to it,
as he is famous for his unusual guitar amp setting, cutting middle and bass to 0, and turn treble to 10.
Oh, it really is great!
I don't like weeping blues guitar, but his guitar is yelling, barking and screaming, even biting!
He sure plays his guitar like a "ringin' a bell"!!

I am now enjoying skateboard since I was 10 years old.
Not doing tricks, or going to a skate park.
Just using it to go to grocery store, or to a park nearby with my daughter riding a tricycle.

A friend of mine gave me this skateboard.
He was a year older than me. And he was a long board surfer.
He used to skate the one he gave me, walking on the board, doing hang ten, and so on.

He taught me not only about skates, but also about Brazilian music, how beautiful the Big Island is, about Joel Tudor, how to restore antique furniture, etc.

I used to hang around with him everyday.
Yeah, I loved him.

And it is the fourth summer since he died.
He died suddenly the day after my birthday, four years ago.

And here comes the hot summer again.

yesterday

I remember Mika Ninagawa, a famous Photographer saying
"Your photograph won't be a piece of art if you don't show it to someone else".
I have only played three times yet, but can understand a bit of what she wants to say.
Playing guitar on stage is sure difficult. But sure it also is fun!

bamboo shoots

hemp1.jpg

I went to Bamboo Shoots the other date.
I forgot when I went there last time. It should be a long time ago.
And I spoke with Mr. Kai for the first time.
A nice gentleman.
I was surprised that he is a old friend of Mr. Homma.
I bought bamboo Shoots' original hemp T shirts.
Nice color, don't you think.
I will wear it tomorrow on stage!!

It seems that bands based on roots music seems to become a bit academic.
But you don't have to worry about that with this band.
They have power and originality to avoid becoming a boring ordinary band.
Please have a try.
Bet you like it!!

mago-ichi kushida

The editor of Popeye Magazine changed. It became a very interesting magazine like Relax which was edited by Hitoshi Okamoto.

popeye1.jpg

But today, I want to talk about Mago-ichi Kushida. He is an Essayist, poet, as well as a philosopher.
I was surprised that Takashi Homma was holding a paint of Mago-ichi on this issue.

popeye2.jpg

I bought Mago-ichi Kushida's painting 12 years ago at a second hand bookstore near Tokyo University.
I didn't have chance to display at home. I was taking good care of it!
But I decided to put it on my desk.
I am happy that two men I respect linked in my head.
That's all!!

sekisawa seisakusho

Study Nature, not Books!

Unfortunately I am not a surfer, and have no plan to be in the future.
But I read this blog everyday.
It makes me relax, and make me smile.
And somehow, make me positive, and make me think of my future.
I want to order my original board for my room!
"Study Nature, not Books!"

misei akegata

Mesei Akegata's poem is very hard to understand.
But the lay out of the words itself as a letter, is beautiful.
I gave up to read, but enjoyed seeing it.
It was my first experience when reading a poem.
When I get a poem which is hard to understand,
I usually throw it away.
But this time, I didn't
It is strange that her poem is always in my bag.
